“Floyd Mayweather”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. grew up in both New Jersey and Grand Rapids, Michigan, where his family faced challenges with addiction and poverty. Boxing ran deep in his bloodline, with his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. being a welterweight contender, and his uncles Jeff and Roger Mayweather also making their marks in the sport.

Mayweather began his amateur boxing career after high school, finishing with a record of 84-8 by 1992. He won the national Golden Gloves championships in 1993 and 1996 before representing the United States at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.

Following the Olympics, Mayweather turned professional and quickly rose to prominence. In 1998, he won the WBC featherweight title by defeating Genaro Hernandez with an 8th round technical knockout. Mayweather’s boxing career was marked by numerous achievements, including dominating Forbes’s highest-paid athletes list from 2012 to 2015. Over his career, he generated $1.67 billion in revenue and became one of the most lucrative pay-per-view attractions in boxing history.

In 2006, Mayweather founded Mayweather Promotions, further solidifying his influence in the sport. He won fifteen major world championships across different weight classes and retired with a perfect 50-0 record.

Mayweather was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2021, cementing his status as one of the greatest boxers of all time.
